BUSINESS TOURIST : A person who leaves his usual work environment for a minimum of one night for professional reasons.
CONFERENCE : Important meeting with a target to communicate, exchange information, solve problems or develop any specific subject in particular.

D.M.C : Abbreviation for Destination Management Company or ground operator.
F&B : Contraction for food and beverage.
The contraction F&B is often used in hotel proposals offering special rates including lunch, dinner, coffee break. These business packages (usually half or full-day) include meals and drinks.
FAM TRIP : Is a contraction for familiarisation trip.
These events are usually dedicated to meeting planners / decision makers who visit a destination in order to see the quality of the services and the diversity and choice of suppliers.

MEETING PLANNER : A meeting planner is an employee or a freelance who is regularly in charge of the organisation of business events: It can for domestic or international events,seminars, meetings, incentives, conferences, or congresses… The meeting planner can be director’s personal assistant (PA), the person in charge of the head of communication or marketing department. In large corporate companies the meeting planner can have full time responsibilities and is sometimes placed within a special travel department.
P.C.O : Abbreviation for Professional Congress Organiser. A company specialised in congress management : accommodation management, registration of delegates, management of the abstracts, financial management of the congress, sponsoring…
The organisation of a congress is completely different from any other event and needs specific skills.
PAX : Contraction of "passenger".
Also used in the business travel vocabulary with the meaning of "participant" or "person", “delegate”, part of one group.
RACK RATES : Official or public rates, as opposed to group rates to a special rate negotiated by an agency or company or group rates (usually for more than 10pax).
RFP : Request for proposal: this abbreviation is used by most of the meeting planners. A RFP is an organised and well-structured document which gives the professional frame for information relative to a new event project.
Such a document is historically used between event agencies and DMCs. The quality of this document is essential in the process of the organisation and realisation of any project.
